Atletico De Madrid coach Diego Simeone is interested in Inter Milan midfielder Ricky Alvarez who has been deemed as surplus at the San Siro.
The 24-year-old has struggled to cement a spot in the Inter starting eleven this season, following on from his first year at the club in 2011/12, which was also disappointing.
Last season Alvarez started just 15 Serie A games, while he was substituted early in 13 of those matches. And in the current campaign he is receiving even less playing time, with just two Serie A appearances so far.
The Argentine was tipped to succeed Wesley Sneijder at Inter and was bought from Velez Sarsfield with that in mind in 2011 – he has though failed to thoroughly convince with Fredy Guarin beginning to impress in Sneijder's role instead.
Now countryman Diego Simeone wants him at Atletico Madrid according to sports mediaset.
The Spanish giants are eyeing up a loan move for the rest of the season for the 24-year-old, with the option to make that a permanent switch at the end of the campaign for a set €6M fee.
Atletico Madrid are currently second in La Liga and hoping to replicate an impressive first half of the season during the second half.
