AS Roma Close on United Target Strootman

Italian side AS Roma are closing in on Manchester United target and PSV central midfielder Kevin Strootman who has been on the agendas of some of the largest European clubs.

Roma are looking for a replacement to fill the gap for the probable departure of Daniele De Rossi who is set to join Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in a deal estimated to be around 17 million euros.

Now Roma have turned their attention to signing Dutch international Strootman who was heavily targeted by Manchester United and it appears that he has already agreed to personal terms.

But what remains to be settled is the fee with the Eridivisie club wanting 15 million euros plus bonus performance add-ons but the Rome side are only willing to pay 11 million euros at this stage.

The 23 year-old who can also play on the left side of midfield has made 16 appearances at international level for the Netherlands, playing a vital role of their side in the World Cup Qualifiers.
