Arsenal, Liverpool, Roma After Hamburg Star Calhanoglu

Arsenal, Roma, Liverpool and Galatasaray are all in the race to sign Turkish international Hakan Calhanoglu who could leave Hamburg due to relegation.

With just six games left, Hamburg find themselves sitting in 17th spot which in other terms would mean that if they finished the season they would drop down to the 2nd tier of German football.

If this remained the same, surely some of the likes of Calhanoglu, Adler, Tah, Jansen, Badelj, Van der Vaart and also Lasogga could all be finding a new home.

The 20 year old has been probably the standout in a poor campaign for his club with eight goals and three assists in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

With a German passport in hand, Roma would not have to use up a non-euro allocated spot which could mean that they will fight harder for the attacking midfielder as they look to bolster their list for Champions League next season.

Calhanoglu is valued at around 8.5 million euros which would surely be a price tag which would interest several more large European clubs.

The Dutch international has hit out at Giallorossi Coach Zdenek Zeman having found himself on the fringes of the starting XI following an injury. The former Ajax stopper has found himself second choice to Mauro Goicoechea since returning from injury late last year.

Transfer News: AS Roma Sign Vasilis Torosidis | Zeman Buys Greek International

Greek giants Olympiacos have confirmed the January transfer of  full-back Vasilis Torosidis to Zdenek Zeman’s Roma.
Zeman will be slightly more relieved as they find some more defensive cover which as it stands they only have two recognized left-backs and also only one recognized right-back in Ivan Piris.

Torosidis can play at right and left back as well as hold the defensive midfield position.

The 27-year-old was on his way to Fulham until the Giallorossi hijacked the deal for the international full-back.

Torosidis, who has cost the club a nominal fee as he only had six months left on his contract, underwent his medical in the Italian capital on Tuesday.

The Greek international has made 54 caps at international level and will be an experienced addition to the team of Roma.

Chelsea Transfer News: PSG, Blues Battle for Roma's Miralem Pjanic

Chelsea have made AS Roma ace Miralem Pjanic a potential £12m replacement for Frank Lampard who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Chelsea Target Miralem Pjanic
But they will have to battle former Stamford Bridge manager Carlo Ancelotti, who wants to take the Bosnian midfielder to PSG.

There are other contenders for the Bosnian international as well with Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona who could be tempted into a possible January bid.

England’s Lampard, 34, is out of contract at the end of the season and admitted in Japan, where Chelsea are preparing for today’s World Club final against Corinthians of Brazil, that he fears his career with the Blues is over.

Pjanic, 22, is regarded as one of the outstanding young midfield players in Europe and has also been linked with superteam Barcelona. Tottenham were the first Premier League club to show interest when Harry Redknapp was manager there – but it is believed his successor, Andre Villas-Boas, has other targets.

Pjanic is under contract in Rome until 2015 and earns £3.6million a year but could almost double his money by joining Chelsea or French giants Paris St-Germain. A move to Paris would see Pjanic join his third French club after Metz and Lyon, who sold him to Roma for £9m.

But Chelsea will attempt to clinch a deal in next month’s transfer window and if Roma will not sell then, they will try again in the summer.

AS Roma Transfer News: Zeman Interested in Nani | Roma Want Portuguese Winger

Roma are interested into taking Manchester United rebel Nani on a six month loan with an option to buy the Portuguese winger on a permanent.
AS Roma Target Nani
Head coach Zdenek Zeman is eager to add a winger to his squad in January, and the 65-year-old sees the Portugal international as the perfect addition to his roster.

Despite having amassed over 200 appearances for the Red Devils since joining in July 2007, Nani has struggled to earn a regular spot in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting XI this season, and could therefore be tempted to move on.

Roma are looking to sign the 26-year-old on a six-month loan deal with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season, and the Giallorossi have already contacted the player's brother to determine whether Nani would be open to a move to the Stadio Olimpico side.

Nevertheless, a transfer could be a complicated matter as United are keen on receiving a figure in line with the €25.5m they originally shelled out for the player five years ago but this might be unlikely.

Additionally, Nani's wage demands could prove to be an obstacle as the attacker has no intention of accepting a pay-cut, and could opt to stay at United until his current deal expires in 2014 unless Roma or another club match his current salary.

The former Sporting CP star had previously caught the attention of AC Milan and Juventus but the interest has since cooled down between the Serie A giants.
