Transfer News: Schalke to Sign Lyon's Michel Bastos |

Schalke are targeting a move for Lyon and Brazil international Michel Bastos who could be set to join the German club in the January transfer window.
The Miners have signed Brazilian Raffael as a replacement for Ibrahim Afellay, who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but they could add another attacking midfielder to their ranks.

With Lewis Holtby set to join Tottenham at the end of the season, Schalke are set to launch an assault on Lyon star Michel Bastos.

L’Equipe understands that the Miners are ready to offer around €7 million for the player who has two and a half years left on his deal at Gerland.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admitted earlier this season that the club might need to sell a couple of star players in order to balance the books and the Brazilian midfielder could be the first to leave.

He has long ago expressed desire to leave Gerland, and a switch to German Bundesliga is likely to appeal to him.

The 10 time Brazil international has made 11 league appearances for Lyon this season, scoring a total of 5 goals.

In other Schalke transfer news, the German side are have names such as Isco from Malaga and Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow on their wishlist but Michel Bastos still remains a top priority.
