Transfer News: Chelsea closing in on Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao

Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao could be heading in Jose Mourinho's footsteps across to England where it appears Chelsea are closing in on the Portuguese international's signature.

Since making the move from Benfica to Real Madrid for an estimated £26.5m, Coentrao has not been able to live up to his hefty price tag with the 25 year old not being able to be a first choice selection and merely plays whilst Marcelo is injured.

 Now it seems that Jose Mourinho will try to bring in the defender to replace Ashley Cole who is out of contract at the end of next month.

It is believed that £15m will be enough to secure the signing of Coentrao in his move to Chelsea. The deal is expected to be made when Mourinho is publicly announced as coach in the coming weeks.
