Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is targeting Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor with high possibilities that Thomas Vermaelen is leaving the Emirates Stadium according to the daily mail.
The Newcastle centre-back is linked to a move to the Gunners and has been added to Wenger's defensive wishlist along with Swansea City player Ashley Williams.
Taylor has been at Newcastle since he was just 9 years of age but this season since the arrival of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, his position at the back is no longer assured which has alerted Arsenal.
Vermaelen has not been the only defender at Arsenal linked with a move away from the club with Laurent Koscielny being targeted by Bayern Munich.
