Athletic Club Bilbao have reached an agreement with Real Betis for the signing of Spanish international Benat Etxebarria for a fee of €8million.
The central midfielder will return to the Basque side who he formerly played for but never got a look in. He made the move away to Betis in 2009 on a free transfer where he then made a name for himself.
Benat, 26, will sign a five year contract for Bilbao in the hope that he can help carry them back into European football after finishing in 12th spot last season.
Despite being linked to much larger clubs in Bayern Munich and Manchester City, the 3-time Spain international wanted to return to his boyhood club.
Benat enjoyed a wonderful season in Seville, where he made a total of 34 league appearances with 4 goals and 7 assists to his name.
