Tottenham Sign Paulinho Despite Late Madrid Interest

Spanish giants Real Madrid tried to make a last minute hijack for Brazil's confederations cup star Paulinho who is set to sign for Tottenham.

Corinthians were going to sell Paulinho to the Spurs for a fee of around £15m but now with Real Madrid's late interest, the Club World Cup champions are setting the fee at the price of the release clause which is £17m.

It is believed that Tottenham have now agreed to sign the player for £17m with confirmation from Corinthians.

Corinthians will not receive all of the transfer fee either with 50% of the money going to Paulinho's former club Audax-SP.

Inter Milan and AS Roma were both interested in the 24-year old for quite some time but talk of a move to Italy has cooled since Tottenham became interested.
