Transfer News: Arsenal Prepare Offer for Leverkusen Star Lars Bender

Arsene Wenger is planning to prepare an offer to Bayer Leverkusen defensive midfielder Lars Bender with Arsenal still yet to replace Alex Song who left for Barcelona last summer.

The Gunners have been dampened in the midfield since the loss of Song with Abou Diaby, Arsenal's other holding midfielder injured for most of the season. Mikel Arteta has been the man to fill that void for most of the season but he isn't a natural in that position and prefers to play a more attacking role.

Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender is believed to be a prime target for Wenger and is also apparently on the market for around £15million.

Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Manchester City could also be alerted by this and may make a move for the German international as well.
