Barcelona Coach Martino Interested in Santiago Vergini

New FC Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino is interested in bringing in Newell's Old Boys central defender Santiago Vergini who was playing under Martino until he made the switch to the Nou Camp.

It is believed that the new coach who replaced the terminally ill Tito Vilanova could be going back to his old side to swoop for Vergini as a solution to Barca's defensive problems.

Vergini, 24, has been in great form over the past few seasons since his return Argentina with the one time international spending one season in Italy with Hellas Verona before coming back to the mainland.

But although Vergini could prove to be a solution to the woes at the back 4 for the Catalans, is he really the name which the fans want to see come in.

With names such as David Luiz and also Thiago Silva being linked, Vergini would surely be used as a rotation player instead of a regular starter in the line-up.
