Liverpool Activate Diego Costa's Release Clause

Liverpool have reportedly activated Atletico de Madrid striker Diego Costa's buy out clause which has been set at 25 million euros.

The Brazil international has been in fine form this season in tandem with now AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao and it hasn't gone unnoticed with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool interested.

It is believed that Liverpool have made the first move for the 24 year-old with a bid matching or close to the 25 million euro release clause.

Atletico may be also willing to settle for a fee in that area as they are currently enduring some financial woes which has rocked Spanish football over the past few seasons.

However they have managed to secure Champions League and have added FC Barcelona striker David Villa and also promising young stars Leo Baptistao and also Roberto Jimenez.

Diego Costa scored 20 goals last season for Atletico from a total of 44 appearances.
